Stampin’ Up!® Flight & Airy DSP: Horizontal Birds

Sometimes you just need curves instead of straight lines. Right? Instead of fussycutting all these birds I chose to just cut curvy horizontal bands from the DSP. Then I glued the strip to Calypso Coral and just cut it to match the curves. Then instead of wasting cardstock and creating more bulk I cut 2 narrow strips of Boho Blue, mounted them on either side of the Coral, then cut it to match the curves. Easy!  PS  I made the coral layer thinner since it is so much brighter than the blue layer.

On the inside I used a blending brush to add a little blue “sky” on the white layer, then fussy cut loosely around the top of the bottom layer of birds (with the straight edge at the bottom) and added it to the bottom of the card.  You could instead use the top layer the same way, lining up the straight edge on top and fussy cutting loosely around the bottom of that strip of birds. That way you’re using all the strips of the DSP if you make several cards like this.

Measurements:

• Misty Moonlight cardstock base: 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”; then embossed with the SAB Softly Sophisticated 3D embossing folder
• Basic White cardstock: 4″ x 5 ¼”; and 2″ x 2 3/4″ or scrap
• Calypso Coral cardstock: 3 x 5 1/2″; and 2 7/16″ x 1 11/16 (weird size to be just slightly larger than the postage die)
• Boho Blue cardstock:  2 strips 3/4″ x 5 1/2″
• Garden Green cardstock: 2 3/4″ x 1 3/4″ or scrap to punch with Bough punch or diecut with some leaves
• Flight & Airy DSP: cut curvy lines halfway between each horizontal strip of birds and cut two pieces to 5 1/2″ width. (Cut off whichever end leaves the most birds.); plus you can use a strip from either the top or bottom of the DSP sheet for the inside. (See description above.)

Instructions:

• Cut, score, diecut and stamp as noted in measurements, pictured here and shown on my video linked below.
• Add embellishments as desired.
