CWK Designs: Stampin’ Up!® Ginkgo Branch featuring Embossing Paste
Card #7 of 7 in my GORGEOUS GINKGO Class-To-Go features Shimmery White Embossing Paste colored with ink refills for AMAZING texture!
The inside mirrors the outside except the flowers are just stamped with a detailed die added on top.
Cutting the label on the front after stamping the greeting and then carrying the cut-off portion to the inside provides a nice touch.
Measurements:
- Polished Pink cardstock base: 5 ½”x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”; and 2” x 1 ½” ish scrap to diecut flowers from.
- Daffodil Delight cardstock: 4 ¼” x 5 ½” to diecut down with Scalloped Rectangle for front and 4 ⅛” x 5 ⅜” for inside layer to also cut Daffodil flowers from.
- Shimmery White cardstock: 3 ½” x 4 ¾” ish (You could also choose to use Shimmery White instead of Basic White for the detailed branch diecut.)
- Basic White cardstock: 3 ¾” x 5” ish (x2) one to diecut detailed branch from and another one to diecut the solid branch from for the stencil; 4 ¼” x 5 ½” to die cut for inside; plus 1” x 4” ish scrap to diecut label from.
Instructions:
- Set aside your slightly smaller Shimmery White layer so you don’t confuse it with the Basic White layers.
- Diecut one Daffodil Delight layer with the Scalloped Contour Rectangle Die and use the same die to diecut the white layer for inside.
- Diecut the detailed large branch out of Basic White.
- Diecut the solid large branch out of Basic White (preferably at the angle you’d like to have for your yellow/pink design on front). Set the actual diecut solid branch out to use on another card. You will use the remaining rectangle with the branch cut out as a stencil.
- Diecut some Detailed flowers from the center of the Daffodil layers to use on this card and other future cards (since the center of both pieces will be covered up anyway).
- Diecut some Detailed flowers from Polished Pink.
- Watch my video for tips on using embossing paste for more details, but here’s the idea:
- Carefully tape down your Shimmery White cardstock with some kind of removable tape.
- Carefully tape the Basic White stencil over the Shimmery White at whatever angle you wish.
- Put a dollop of Shimmery Embossing Paste on one corner of your Silicon mat and mix in 2 drops of Petal Pink ink refill with your palette knife, then clean off your knife.
- Put a dollop of Shimmery Embossing Paste on the opposite corner of your Silicon mat and mix in 2 drops of Daffodil Delight ink refill with your palette knife.
- Scoop up some of the Daffodil paste and cover the top 1/3rd of the negative space in the stencil…leaving it thick and textured, then clean your knife.
- Scoop up some of the Pink paste and cover the bottom 1/3rd of the negative space in the stencil…leaving it thick and textured.
- Mix the remaining Daffodil and Pink paste together, then smooth it over the middle of the negative space.
- Peel off the stencil and add the white detailed diecut on top, pushing it down on the solid floral portions into the colored embossing paste and set aside to DRY.
- Stamp your selected greeting onto the label and outline it with a Daffodil Delight marker or Blends (and even Wink of Stella) if desired, then cut it off to fit the greeting if you want to add the remaining portion on the inside later.
- Stamp flowers and/or a greeting inside on the white layer.
- Adhere Daffodil scalloped layer to the front of the card and the plain Daffodil layer to the inside.
- Adhere the stamped white layer over the Daffodil layer inside, then adhere over them whatever portions of the coordinating detailed dies you like.
- Wrap ribbon around and tie bow (if desired) around the DRY Shimmery White layer before adhering with Foam Adhesive Strips around all the edges, centered over the Daffodil scalloped rectangle on front.
- Adhere the label greeting with Dimensionals onto the cardfront and the remaining cut-off piece inside if desired).
- Add desired embellishments.
