CWK Collection: Stampin’ Up!® Marbled Elegance Suite
This absolutely GORGEOUS Marbled Elegance DSP turns even simple cards into WOW cards!
My recent class members LOVED making these cards. You can change them for different occasions by simply changing the greetings/sentiments to suit: Valentine’s Day, Galentine’s Day, Wedding, Anniversary, Friendship, etc.
To that end, I’ve added some stamp sets with heart-related sentiments (e.g. “Knowing You Brings Joy to my Heart”) to the Product List below.
You’ll also find measurements and video links for each card below.
CWK SPINNER CARD:
How luscious is this gorgeous sheet of aptly named Marbled Elegance DSP? Especially combined with the Real Red cardstock and “stitched” gold foil heart! Wowza! LOVE it!
- TIP: Be sure to position (with Post-it tape, etc.) your DSP onto your cardfront (but don’t glue the layers together ) until after you diecut the heart out of both layers at once.
- Then use sticky strip or Seal to adhere the gold thread to the Real Red cardfront… directly above the dip in the top of the heart and below the point of the heart.
- Also use glue dots over the thread ends just to make sure it remains taut.
- Next, adhere the DSP to the front of the card, lining up the heart opening.
- Add a TINY line of liquid glue with a small tip applicator around the outside edges of each gold heart, plus add some Seal in the middle solid sections. (Too much glue can come through the little stitched holes in the heart.)
- Center the back (glue-y) heart under the thread (white side up), then add the top (glue-y) heart (white side down) matched up with the bottom heart with the thread sandwiched between them.
- See more tips below the photo of the inside and watch the video for details.
- I used the Soft Waves 3d embossing folder on the right side of the Real Red card stock so it peeks around the gold embossed heart when the card is closed and gives interest to that side of the card when it’s open.
- I chose that folder since it’s a subtle, flowing texture that coordinates with the swirls on the DSP and doesn’t compete with the texture on the gold heart when the card is closed. (I tried several other folders that all looked too busy.)
- Stamping the xoxo stamp several times in a row creates a fun, easy border on the bottom of the left inside section.
- You can heat emboss the sentiment on the left in gold or use Wild Wheat ink as a quick substitute.
- Make sure your leafy red heart on the right heart is filled with ink and leave it on the paper a few seconds to get a really pretty solid image with the leaves reversed out. Lovely.
- You could leave off the sentiment inside if you need more room to write your own message, or add a panel to the back.
- TIP/NEAT TRICK: Twist the heart several times before closing the card and inserting it into the envelope so that your recipient sees it spin when they open it!
Measurements:
- Real Red cardstock: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″ with the right side embossed with the Soft Waves 3D embossing folder
- Basic White cardstock: 1 3/4″ x 4 (x 3 pieces…1 to diecut banner and 2 for inside)
- Marbled Elegance DSP: 4″ x 5 1/4″
- Wax paper: 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ (x 2) to use with detailed heart
- Gold foil: 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″(x 2)
- Gold Twisted Thread: 4″ ish

CWK LOVE YOU card:
- I sized the white card stock to 4 1/2″ wide x 4 1/4″ tall so that I could diecut out the (positive space) white heart (with the 4 perforated outlines) to use on the Heart Shaped card, then I use the (negative space) heart cutout on this card.
- TIP: Be sure to use wax paper between the die and the white cardstock…those perforations really lock it into place otherwise. I tried carefully poking through the 3 ejection holes, but I just ended up with 3 holes in my cardstock where I didn’t want them.
- On the white layer I heat embossed in gold the “love you” from the Everyday Greetings stamp set to coordinate with the greeting I used inside.
- I embossed the front of the cardbase with the So Swirly embossing folder, then adhered the DSP to the Real Red card base. I tied the Gold Open Weave Trim through the left side of the white card layer before I popped up the layer over the DSP.
- This inside sentiment coordinates beautifully with the “love you” on the front…perfect to send a friend who has lost their spouse. It should be a nice surprise for someone not expecting a card during the Valentine’s season.
- Of course, based on the recipient you could easily change the sentiment to “Happy Valentine’s Day” inside to coordinate with a “Be Mine” on the front. Cute!
- TIP: I stamped the sentiment in Real Red, added the DSP strip to coordinate with the front, then heat embossed in gold and diecut the leafy heart from the “Hearts of Elegance” bundle for just the right touch inside.
Measurements:
- Real Red cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored 5 1/2″
- Basic White cardstock: 4 1/2″ wide x 4 1/4″ tall to diecut with heart die*; 4″ x 5 1/4″ inside; scrap 2″ x 2″ ish to diecut heart
- Marbled Elegance DSP: 4″ tall x 4 7/16″; 3/4″ x 4″ inside
- Gold Open Weave Trim: 16″ ish
- Wax paper: 4″ x 4 1/2″ to use with perforated heart used on both the Love You card and this Heart Shape card

CWK HEART SHAPE card:
The largest heart die in the Hearts of Elegance bundle cuts out a beautiful heart shape for the cardbase. Just fold the Cherry Cobbler cardstock in half and leave a tiny sliver of open air at the top of both heart “bumps” to form the fold before you diecut it. (Otherwise you just cut out two individual hearts.)
- I opened the connected hearts and embossed the entire piece with the So Swirly embossing folder to add texture.
- The gold thread, gold heart embellishments and gold embossed leaves really provide an elegant contrast to the Cherry Cobbler marbled DSP and cardbase, right? The flower stamped in Cherry Cobbler is lovely inside and out.
- I added some Seal to the back of the label after stamping the sentiment, then attached my gold thread to it.
- Then I popped up the label as well as the diecut flower and leaves with Dimensionals.
- Add the gold heart embellishments as you wish for the finishing touch.
The photo doesn’t capture all the little stitched dots/perforations from the die, but they look great on the heart.
- As noted in the Love You card information, I sized the white card stock to 4 1/2″ wide x 4 1/4″ tall so that I could diecut out the (positive space) white heart (with the 4 perforated outlines) to use on the Heart Shaped card, then I use the (negative space) heart cutout on this card.
- TIP: Be sure to use wax paper between the die and the white cardstock…those perforations really lock it into place otherwise. I tried carefully poking through the 3 ejection holes, but I just ended up with 3 holes in my cardstock where I didn’t want them.
- TIP 2: If you don’t want to take the time to emboss the inside sentiment you can just stamp Wild Wheat as a substitute.
Measurements:
- Cherry Cobbler cardstock: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″ to diecut with largest heart
- Basic White cardstock: Use the inside of the 4 1/2″ wide x 4 1/4″ tall piece that diecut the heart from the Love You card; 2 x 4 1/4″ ish to stamp rose, leaves and then diecut them out; scrap 1 1/4″ x 3″ ish for label
- Marbled Elegance DSP: 4″ x 4″
- Wax paper: 4″ x 4″ to use with perforated heart used on Love You card and this Heart Shape card
- Gold Twisted Thread: 13″ ish

CWK OVERLAPPING HEARTS cards:
I first saw this pretty and versatile fold on a video from Kim Quade, aka Kim Plays with Paper at this link. I just made a few tweaks. she shows great samples of baby cards, birthday cards, etc. using different DSP and sentiments. Fun!
For my class, I changed the cardbase from her 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ flat base to a vertical gatefold cardbase of 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 2 1/8″ from each end and put the flaps to the back so it would stand up. (Allegedly.) But it didn’t really stand up that well unless you tweaked the flaps in opposite directions and hold your tongue right. Ha! On the video I used a standard card base with the hearts & panel on the front half so I could adjust the back half until it stands properly. (The hearts make it a bit front heavy.) Then you can add an additional white panel with messages on the inside. BUT it’s easiest to just do it as a flat base like Kim did!
- It’s easy to position the hearts (3rd largest in the set) however you want them on the white layer. Then fold the sides (that hang over) back behind the white layer and adhere them.
- I added some blending with blending brushes and some Pretty in Pink/Bubble Bath and some Melon Mambo ink mostly in a diagonal from top right to bottom left to add a little interest behind the hearts and cover up some of the otherwise stark white.
- Add some little gold heart embellishments for the final touch!
I thought this Marbled Elegance DSP showcased against the Bloom Impressions DSP from Sale-a-bration was quite complementary!
This particular sheet of the Marbled Elegance DSP seemed too “busy” with other sheets I had, so I chose to emboss a solid Melon Mambo heart with the So Swirly folder to compliment this DSP sheet.
- You could leave it plain, add an xoxo stamp on the top right corner like Jan did on the video, or turn it into an anniversary card (like I did for our 25th Anniversary today).
- PS I used the Birthday Celebration dies for the “25” shown.
- NOTE: You could just flip the DSP so one heart has the gold inside and the other heart has gold on the front…but I’ve already used all the sheets in my package.
Softly swishing some blending brushes and coordinating ink really dresses it up in a flash, right?
Adding the gold embossed Happy Anniversary (sorry it doesn’t show up gold on camera), stamped rose and also the gold diecut heart add even more interest inside. (My hubby is man enough to appreciate this 25th Anniversary card, even with pinks and flowers!)
Measurements:
- Melon Mambo cardstock: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″ if you want the card to stand up or if not, just cut to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ instead; PS One version shown also uses a solid Melon Mambo heart cut from 4 3/4″ x 4 3/4″
- Basic White cardstock: 4″ x 5 1/4″ and possibly an additional scrap if you add a smaller heart like the “25” card shown.
- Marbled Elegance DSP: 4 3/4″ x 4 3/4″
- Bloom Impressions DSP: 4 3/4″ x 4 3/4″ for the second heart unless you prefer a solid Melon Mambo heart
- Gold Twisted Thread: 13″ ish
