Kylie’s International Blog Highlights September 2022: Leaf Fall Watercolor – Beyond Grateful
Love the artsy results using an embossing folder as a guide for coloring the leaves with a water painter and inks…
- I’m excited to participate again in Kylie’s International Blog Highlights with my watercolored card.
- My card measurements and product list are below the following International Blog Highlights information.
- I hope you’ll take time to vote for up to five of your favorite cards from the highlights. (Hopefully including mine!)
- Just click: VOTE FOR MY CARD! then select my card by clicking the heart on the upper right of the photo.
- You’ll know you’ve voted for it when the heart changes color.
- The top ten winners based on your votes will be able to participate in the actual International Highlights Winners Hop at the end of the month.
- I’ve made it into Kylie’s Top Ten twice this year and I’d love to enjoy that honor again!

Stampin Up!’s Kraft paper leaf practically becomes real when you use an aqua painter to add inks, use the timber embossing folder for texture, then wad it up, squeeze it, open it, wad it up again the other way, squeeze it, open it again until you have the desired crumpled leaf effect. FUN!
Measurements:
- Cajun Craze cardstock base: 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″ (or you could switch it to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″…up to you.)
- Fluid 100 watercolor paper: 2 1/2″ x 3 1/8″
- Copper brushed metallic cardstock: 3″ x 4 1/2″, and 1/2″ x 4″ strip for inside
- Very Vanilla cardstock: 4″ x 5 1/4″, plus scrap for greeting
- Linen thread: 17″ ish for double bow
Instructions:
- Texture emboss the front of the card base with Stampin’ Up! Leaf Fall 3D embossing folder.
- Texture emboss watercolor paper and metallic strip with Fall Leaf embossing folder also.
- Diecut the Fabulous Frame out of the copper metallic cardstock.
- Watercoloring means you’ll need some paper towels and you’ll have FUN when you play with your favorite fall ink colors using a water painter. I rub a clear block onto each ink pad to use as a palette to watercolor with.
- Get the paper wet, wet, wet with a water painter and/or a spritzer, then paint one color on a particular type of leaf, clean off the brush and paint on the next color, letting them run outside the lines if desired.
- Spritz the paper again if necessary to let the colors run.
- Spritz or use water painter on the Kraft leaf and add your selected ink colors, then use the timber embossing folder for texture, then wad it up, squeeze it, open it, wad it up again the other way, squeeze it, open it again until you have the desired crumpled leaf effect.
- Let the watercolor paper dry before adhering it to the back of the copper frame.
- Adhere the framed watercolor to the cardstock flat or use dimensionals.
- Heat emboss the stamped greeting with copper metallic powder, then diecut after you’re sure it is totally dry & cool.
- Tie a double bow through the hole in the Kraft leaf, then mount it with dimensionals per photo.
- Mount the greeting with dimensionals on top of the leaf.
- Add Wink of Stella to leaves and add Amber embellishments as desired.
- I plan to post a Facebook/YouTube Live video through soon. If I can’t get to this one, check back with me if you want more detailed information.
